One of the more common issues is that the units may power on but will then do nothing. Customers often do not wish to spend the money necessary to repair these laptops so they wind up being offered for sale.

Technicians use these not only for the laptops parts to repair or replace other broken laptops with but they will often fix them for resale purposes. This works well and we have seen many of the G4 models continue to bring impressive prices upon resale.

For example we have done very well with the PowerPC G4 and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard as these continue to sell quite well. Powerbook parts can be really expensive as you know.

Basically rebuilding units is easy and a typical example may have an 80GB hard drive, CD-RW/DVD combo, 1GB of memory, and say a 1.67 GHz PowerPC G4 processor. The older models continue to sell well as budget models.
