On a Dell laptop power connect issue usually on the laptop power brick, also known as the power adapter, there will be a little light which will indicate if the brick is at least receiving power and the light should be glowing to indicate that this is the case.

A blinking light on a laptop computer will simply indicate that the laptop is probably in standby mode and all you should have to do is press a key on the keyboard, move your finger along the touchpad, or push in on the laptops power button once. Any of these actions should bring the laptop on back out of standby mode which is just a power saving mode and quite normal.

However if the situation is that you go to turn on the laptop and find that nothing happens at all then this is definitely not normal.

The Dell laptop power connect issue is an example but this could be the case on any make or model of laptop computer. This can be quite often easily resolved by going through some basic troubleshooting steps which I will outline here. Take note of these steps as they are very simple and may just save you from having your day ruined.

If the power light actually remains off when you push the power button then you can try to reseat, simply unplug and plug in again, the power cable which goes into the laptop from the power outlet on the wall. Make sure that the power cable is plugged in firmly to both the laptop and the wall outlet as well.

If the laptop is plugged into a power strip, you should be sure that the power strip is actually turned on (usually there is a light which will indicate that the power strip is really turned on), and that it is securely plugged into the wall outlet.
