Technology advances so fast today that it is difficult and quite expensive to try and stay up to date with all of the latest laptops and their various features on the market because this landscape changes so rapidly.

It is always nice when you have the option to purchase your computer parts separately because it basically means that you can still have an up to date computer with all of the latest features you choose to have inside the laptop case.

Many laptop repair shops and technicians will keep old broken laptops on hand so that they can use good parts to repair other broken laptops with. This can be a real life saver for the laptop owner because many of the parts for older laptops may not be readily available.

Some laptop repairs may require nothing more than a simple inexpensive part and when the technician has this part on hand they can readily repair the laptop for the customer and everyone is happy.

Other times laptop parts may be bought for the sole purpose of enhancing the overall performance of the laptop computer. This may include the upgrading of the memory to make the laptops performance more responsive during multitasking activities.

The fact is that as the memory technology gets older it actually becomes more expensive as in the case of DDR. Basically this means that DDR2 for example is much cheaper to buy then the original DDR is so having the older memory on hand from say a broken laptop can really be a good thing as far as being able to actually upgrade the older laptops.
